OBJECTIVES
Objectives
Objectives are stages that are specified, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) and contribute to the attainment of a larger goal. They are the smaller, more actionable steps that need to be taken to achieve the desired outcome. Objectives and goals are both important components of goal setting. While they are often used interchangeably, there is a subtle difference between the two. Goals are the broader, overarching outcomes that an individual or organization strives to achieve. They are more general and aspirational in nature, and they may not be directly measurable.
Objectives are significant for HR for a variety of reasons, including
- They lay out a clear path for achieving objectives.
- They divide goals into smaller, more doable steps.
- Objectives help to track progress and measure success.
- People feel motivated and inspired when they set objectives.
